Common Conditions We Manage:
Allergies - Many people suffer from allergies. We can help find a combination of medications that will help you. We will also refer you for allergy testing if desired.
Arthritis/Degeneration of Joints - We can asses severity with in office x-ray. We can work on medications and joint injections to provide relief.
Atrial Fibrillation - This is a very common irregular rhythm of the heart. This condition places patients at a higher risk for adverse events such as strokes. As a result, many people are on medications such as Coumadin. We have in office testing to help check your blood levels of the medication and will work along with Cardiology to help control the rate and rhythm of your heart.
Chest Pain - Common causes besides your heart include respiratory infections, asthma and heartburn. We usually advise to go to the ER to rule out more serious causes and we will then be happy to see you in follow up.
Congestive Heart Failure - This is a condition in which the heart does not pump blood optimally. Regular follow up for physical exam and medication adjustments are needed.
COPD/Asthma - These conditions require regular evaluations so we can work to maximize your medications to help your breathing. Of course, we ask you to proceed immediately to the ER if you are having severe shortness of breath.
Coronary Artery Disease - Blockage in the arteries in your heart can lead to heart attacks and death. We can help stratify your risk with blood tests which look at markers for risk of blockage. We also can do an EKG which shows if your heart is conducting normally. We also can perform a non invasive test that looks at the thickness of your arteries and helps provide another indication of your risk of blockage in your arteries.
Diabetes - Diabetes is another medical condition we manage on a daily basis. Uncontrolled blood sugar over time leads to blindness, kidney failure, and heart attacks. It is necessary to have blood tests every three months to track your progress and to help us adjust your medications for better sugar control.
Hyperlipidemia - High cholesterol is also a risk factor for many of the above complications of cardiovascular disease. Every three to six months we do a detailed cholesterol panel which helps guide treatment for elevated cholesterol. We can also advise you on diet and exercise.
Hypertension - Elevated blood pressure is a significant risk factor for multiple adverse events including heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease and more. Is is important to follow up at least every three months for blood pressure checks as well as routine blood work that monitors your condition.
Respiratory Infections - Sinus infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia are common infections we see daily. We can evaluate, check a CXR in the office if needed, and treat with medications as appropriate.
Seizures - Along with Neurology, we can help manage your medications to reduce risk for further seizures.
Smoking - Smoking is a big risk factor for lung cancer and cardiovascular disease just to name a few. We can discuss and provide different medications to help you, as you try to quit smoking.
Strep Throat/Sore Throat - We can diagnose and treat sore throats with rapid strep testing and antibiotic treatment as needed.
Urinary Tract Infections - We provide in office testing that can help us diagnose and treat urinary infections.
Vomiting/Diarrhea - While there are many causes, we can help identify the cause and provide recommendations for medications and treatment.
Men
We can arrange for men to have a screening colonoscopy to evaluate for colon cancer. We also can provide tetanus, flu, pneumonia and shingles vaccines as needed.
Women
Preventive services we can provide and arrange for women include Pap Smears to assess risk for Cervical Cancer, Mammograms for Breast Cancer Screening, Dexa Bone Scan to screen for Osteoperosis, Colonoscopy to screen for Colon Cancer. We can also provides tetanus, pneumonia, flu, and shingles vaccines.
Children
We take care of children of all ages from birth in the hospital onward. After birth, children are recommended to have scheduled "well child" visits to check their growth and progress and to give immunizations at the appropriate ages. Routine visits start at birth, then 2 weeks old, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months, and then yearly.
We can also see your children as needed for sick visits. Other services for children include school,camp, and work physicals.
